Lauren Stephenson
Hi! I am Lauren Stephenson, and I am the proud Assistant Principal of Riverview Elementary School! I am excited to be part of our school's leadership team this year as we help students and staff always aim higher!

I have worked in education for 16 years, and all of them have been with Dawson County Schools. This district has a strong leadership team, and it works hard to provide an excellent educational experience for all students.

I have a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of North Georgia in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. I have a doctoral degree from the University of West Georgia in School Improvement; my research is based on culturally responsive teaching practices and the importance of critical reflection to help teachers examine their influence on their classrooms and students. I have been a classroom teacher, special education teacher, Pre-K director, and preschool testing coordinator. In all of these roles, I have enjoyed building relationships with students and their families, identifying and setting goals, and working diligently to ensure each student's success.

You probably already know that Riverview Elementary School is a special place. As a teacher, I knew our school held students and staff to high expectations. These high expectations have resulted in numerous awards and accolades over the years, including being a National Blue Ribbon School of Distinction. As a teacher, I was given many development opportunities, and I felt supported by our school and district leaders. Our school uses research-based practices to lead our students to academic, social, and emotional success. As an administrator, I get to visit every classroom, and I can see the amazing things that are going on in each classroom every day. You will not find a harder-working, caring, and more supportive staff anywhere!

I am grateful that both my children are students at RvES this year. We love our school family! When I'm not at school, I love spending time outside, exercising, and playing music with my friends.
